On May 7, 2017, sometime in the late evening, arsonists set fire to the large play fort, see picture above. As a result the structure burnt to the ground (see picture below). Immediate steps were taken to begin an appeal for restoration. Within a week £4,500+ had been raised, with many accompanying messages of commiseration and support.
